We have been trying to keep you informed about these anti-gun groups, but some people still refuse to believe it in spite of the proof. So, once again, here’s more proof. You wouldn’t expect the Chamber of Commerce to advocate against our rights, but, then again, we have seen worse. If anything, it’s simply more proof that we must be on our guard always and never be afraid to stand up for liberty, because the people who are trying to take away our liberties aren’t pulling any punches, and they are well funded.

2nd Amendment Day is Here!

Be at the Oklahoma State Capitol for the rally of the year. We will meet at noon on the 4th floor Rotunda to let our legislators know we want our rights back that should have NEVER been taken away. Remember, we must speak to these legislators respectfully. We can be assertive and respectful at the same time. Raising our voices and allowing someone to pull us into a shouting match is counterproductive. We need to let the opposition allow their emotions to get out of control while we stand our ground with facts, logic, historical precedents, etc. We have liberty, truth, and facts on our side so we have the advantage!

Turner Falls Updates Their Gun Policy

In January, a US Law Shield member requested some information about Turner Falls—more specifically, he wanted to know if there were any firearm restrictions at Turner Falls. Oklahoma state law allows concealed and/or open carry at all municipal and state parks, so it was troubling to discover that the municipal code and park regulations on the Turner Falls website states that all guns were banned at Turner Falls Municipal Park. Turner Falls is a destination spot for Texas and Oklahoma families, and has been for a 100 years. Robert Robles from US Law Shield reached out to the Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association and explained the situation. Shortly after, OK2A President Don Spencer swung into action to do what OK2A does best—to change Turner Falls’ “no gun policy.”

As we have detailed before, the “Take the Guns First” or Fix NICS legislation would result in gun bans for military veterans, seniors, people with outstanding traffic tickets or medical marijuana cards, and more. Usually, these illegitimate denials put the burden of proof on the innocent gun owner. Remember when President Trump recently stated he wants to “Take the guns first, go through due process second”? While he was talking about restraining orders, his statement demonstrates the problems with the FBI’s NICS background check system.

Even as the nation was grieving the terrible loss of life in Parkland, Fla., gun control activists were doing what they do best: exploiting tragedy to advance their political agenda. Gun control activists are pushing a message that you are to blame for the criminal violence that took place last week. They’re attempting to capitalize on this tragedy to convince members of Congress to vote for their gun control wish list. Antigun Politicians Aim for America’s Most Popular Firearms with Expansive Ban

Hoping to capitalize on tragedy, ignorance, and hysteria, 174 opportunistic anti-gun Democrats—led by Rep. David N. Cicillinie (RI)—introduced legislation last week proposing perhaps the most sweeping gun ban in U.S. history. The bill, H.R. 5087, is dubbed the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2018.” Yet its scope is so vast, and its drafting so poorly executed, that that the only semiautomatic firearms it clearly doesn’t reach are those listed in an appendix of what the authors consider permissible guns (many of which will be unknown or unavailable to the average consumer, if they’re available at all).
