No Compromise—It's Time to Take a Stand on Gun Control

Even as the nation was grieving the terrible loss of life in Parkland, Fla., gun control activists were doing what they do best: exploiting tragedy to advance their political agenda. Gun control activists are pushing a message that you are to blame for the criminal violence that took place in Florida. They’re attempting to capitalize on this tragedy to convince members of Congress to vote for their gun control wish list.

Proposals to ban the most popular rifles in America, arbitrarily limit magazine capacity, require a waiting period on all firearm sales, and restrict the right of law-abiding young adults to acquire rifles and shotguns have been suggested as “solutions” by those who wish to curtail the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Legislation encompassing these proposals could be voted on in Congress very soon.

Make no mistake, the NRA will not let the media elites get away with blaming its members and the gun-owning public for the acts of a single deranged person or the culture of inaction that allowed him to operate unchecked.

Since 1871, the NRA has cultivated a culture of safety, competence, and responsibility among America’s gun owners. For years, they have tirelessly advocated for improving the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) System. They have also led the charge to increase security measures of all types in schools, including where appropriate the arming of guards or other trained personnel. America’s law-abiding gun owners have been and will remain a force for good, order, and safety in their communities.

But the media and gun control advocates want you to believe the tide has shifted and that the inevitable erosion of Second Amendment freedom is finally underway. They hope to convince lawmakers of the same thing, that history has now rendered its verdict against the Second Amendment.

That’s why your U.S. Senators and Congressional Representative need to hear from you TODAY. Please tell them you, as a law-abiding gun owner, do not accept the blame for the criminal acts of a deranged individual. Please tell them your fundamental rights are non-negotiable. Most of all, please tell them not to trade real Second Amendment rights for the false promises of gun control. And finally, please tell them that you will hold them accountable for their decisions at the ballot box. To identify and contact your legislators in Washington, D.C., you can use the NRA’s “Write Your Reps” feature or you can reach your member of Congress by phone at 202-224-3121.

They aren’t in the office we put them in so they can promote their agenda—they are in office to represent you…and the interests of the American people! Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie has been working hard to protect our Constitutional rights, but he isn’t the only one. While you are contacting lawmakers regarding certain bills, if you know of someone (a legislator) who is keeping the oath they took by not backing down from this ridiculous gun-control agenda to disarm law-abiding citizens, you should thank them! Please take a few minutes and let them know they are doing a great job, and encourage them to stay the course.
